BUHARI FLAGS OFF SUPER HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION IN CROSS RIVER


President Muhammed Buhari will on Monday, September 21st, perform the ground breaking Ceremony for the construction of a 260km Super Highway in Cross River State.
A statement by the Special Assistant on Media/Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ben Ayade, Mr. Christian Ita, said the Highway is one of two signature projects of the current administration in the state.
Major Geo-technical studies have been carried out on the other signature project, the Bakassi Deep Seaport.‎
Upon completion, the Super Highway will serve as the evacuation route for the Seaport.
The statement quoted the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, as conveying the president’s acceptance to perform the ceremony in a letter to the Governor.
“I write to inform you that President Muhammadu Buhari, has acceded to your request. Mr. President, will perform the Ground Breaking of the 240kmSuper Highway Dual Carriage Road from Calabar to Northern Nigeria,” the statement quoted Mr. Kyari’s letter.
When completed, the road will reduce travel time from six hours to two hours from Calabar to Obudu Ranch Resort.
